Dear team captains,

I am very happy to share with you the Mailer 3 concerning the 25th annual CSCE-CAC Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition (CNCCC), which will take place from May 15th to 18th, 2019 at École Polytechnique de Montréal in Montréal.

The present document is mostly intended to give important information about members’ registration and the following:

  • Summary of important dates;
  • Schedule and venues of the competition;
  • Information about accommodations;
  • Members’ registration form;
  • Members’ code of conduct.

Please note that the deadline for members’ registration is March 15th, 2019 and is 150$ per member. No registration will be accepted after that date. In order to register the participants of your team, you must send one printed and completed version of the Members’ Registration Summary (this document will be generated and sent to captains when all members are registered via the registration form which will be shared with captains on Slack)  with only one check (total amount for the whole team) payable to:

Canadian Society for Civil Engineering

521-300 St-Sacrement, Montréal, QC, H2Y 1X4

att: Student Competition Committee

Note that all important information will be posted throughout the year on our website: https://cscecompetitions.ca. Team members are also strongly encouraged to follow the Facebook and Instagram pages of the CNCCC (@cnccc.cnccb) for last minute information and exclusive content.

This year, instant communications between the organizing committees (the CSCE student competition committee as well as Polytechnique’s local committee) and team captains will be done using Slack. We recommend for team captains to download Slack ahead of time. A link has been sent to every captain and co-captain in order to join the workspace.

Lodging is at your discretion, however we suggest some alternatives and encourage you to book quickly to ensure the availability of the required number of rooms. When calling those hotels, don’t forget to mention the competition and the name of your university. Note that it is a long weekend in Canada due to the holiday on Monday (National Patriots Day). Accommodations are very much in demand and unfortunately more expensive.

The local committee of École Polytechnique de Montréal presents 4 different options:

These 4 hotels are about 7km from École Polytechnique de Montréal, within walking distance of the Palais des Congrès, where the Saturday evening Banquet will be held, and about 15 minutes from the Olympic Basin, where the Canoe races will take place on Saturday during the day.
